Faessel, Tom Emerging Leaders Fund
The Tom Faessel Emerging Leaders Fund was established at ÀÇÓÑÉçÇø in 2025 in honor of Thomas Faessel who served the University ably, faithfully, and as a leader, mentor, and colleague for more than forty years. Mr. Faessel's impact on the University led to the establishment of several notable student leadership programs and traditions during his career.
Mr. Faessel's leadership of the Residence Hall Program Board and the Residence Hall Council has been pivotal in cultivating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere within our residence halls. His vision and unwavering dedication have profoundly shaped the experience of countless students, fostering a strong sense of belonging and community and establishing many cherished traditions that define their home away from home.
Perhaps one of Mr. Faessel's most significant and enduring achievements is the establishment and ongoing success of the Emerging Leaders Program in 2001. This hallmark program has served as a powerful catalyst, empowering countless students under Tom's guidance, nurturing their potential, and shaping them into the leaders of the future. His deep and inspiring passion for the many students impacted by this program throughout the years is undeniable.
Additionally, Tom's creation of the Sigma Lambda Freshman Honorary has provided a platform for recognizing and celebrating the achievements of our first-year students. This honorary has become a cornerstone of our community, thanks to Tom's tireless efforts.
The Tom Faessel Emerging Leaders Fund is designed to support students at ÀÇÓÑÉçÇø, with first consideration for students involved in the Emerging Leaders Program within the Department of Residence Life and Housing. The fund is designated to help with tuition, fees, room and board as well as travel costs or other cocurricular experiences associated with leadership or personal development. The scholarship portion of the fund is merit based; thus, recipients should have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and must be in good standing with the University.
